Avisaurus (meaning “bird lizard”) is a genus of enantiornithine bird from the Late Cretaceous of North America.

The Enantiornithes, are a group of extinct avialans (“birds” in the broad sense).   They were the most abundant and diverse group known from the Mesozoic era.  Almost all retained teeth and clawed fingers on each wing, but otherwise looked much like modern birds externally.  In this case the teeth are triangular in shape and thin as opposed to ridges on the bill like modern birds.  In this case they Avisaurus were carnovores.  Of course we can’ t be certain of their exact diet.
