Description
- 1790’s
- Mary Moss worked with precision to exhibit her obligatory childhood needlework skills.
- Mary was born March 20, 1782 and worked on her ABC’s, numbers and thoughts in 1790, at eight years old, as was customary practice then
for young ladies. - Sampler is 10″ x 10″; the archival glass frame with archival backing is 12″ x 12″.
Extremely difficult to find well-preserved Samplers from the 1700’s and early 1800’s. Preparing a sampler was a proud rite of passage. While the photos do not do them justice or show the level of
intricacy, be assured these are exceptional examples of early American work.
