  • 18th Century
  • A remarkable example of Americana from an estate in Philadelphia, PA.
  • The case has a lock, but no key. It has a brass handle and the inside, when it began to show wear, was lined with early newspapers; the one in the lower right photo is
dated April 7, 1790, which indicates the case itself is older than 1790.
  • An item of importance and obviously appreciated – we can only imagine the places it traveled!
  • A convenient 8-1/2″ x 5-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ high. (Note: Dated newspapers “boost the price of any document box,” per “NY & PA Collector” magazine of March 2009
