Description
- Lantern is 11″ tall.
- Made in the 1700’s
- It was not unusual to have a lantern made of wood, which certainly required watchfulness when the interior candle was lit up.
- This is a rectangular wooden lantern design known as the “bowet” – having four glassed sides, one of which is a hinged door. The corner posts extend to form legs and top finials. This has a wire
handle and a ventilating hole with a rare arched protective tin cover.
